New Years Resolutions and Solutions
Christmas 2006 is in our memory books and we have probably have tried to exchange all the goodies that were not so good. Our stomachs have now gone back to their original shape, maybe. Now it is time to make our New Years resolutions. OK, so everyone raise your right hand and say after me, "My New Years resolution this year will be":
I will really go on a diet and really lose weight so I can handle my motorcycle better, I will feel better and my motorcycle will get better gas mileage. It may also extend my riding seasons too! I may even join a health club to tone my body to handle my motorcycle easier and look svelte at the next rally.
I will really review my motorcycle owner's manual to see what things I should complete before the riding season starts. Brakes, tires, belts and fluid changes should be on top of your list.
I will really put together a maintenance schedule and keep track of when all the required items have been completed to keep my motorcycle in top shape and in safe riding condition.
I will really practice my skills in a parking lot or take a safety course before the riding season starts. I will do this because an early season drop will make the rest of the season a flop.
I will really compliment my co-rider and appreciate their sharing our ride. (This one is pretty well mandatory or it will be a long ugly riding season!)
I will really look at my riding gear and make sure it is complete and in good repair. If you really adopted the first resolution, you will need new riding gear anyway as your gear no longer fits. Your helmet should be looked at for cracks, frayed strap or just plain old age. A helmet should be replaced every 5 - 7 years as the interior foam will break down and reduce effectiveness.
I will really try to attend more GWRRA meetings so I can meet friends for Fun, learn Safety and gain Knowledge.
If you can't find a resolution you like or fits your lifestyle, make up a resolution that is meaningful and you really plan on maintaining. Your resolutions can really be long term solutions. If you need any help, I am sure your spouse or dear friend would be glad to assist you.
